BRISTOL & BATH CRAFT WORKSHOPS
Bristol & Bath Craft Workshops - The Kingswood Estate, Britannia Rd, Bristol BS15 8DB
I run mixed ability, group courses and one-day workshops at Bristol & Bath Craft Workshops in Kingswood. The studio is light and airy with free parking.
These courses are suitable for all levels and each term is 6 weeks in duration.
Classes will be limited to 6 students and held across 2 conjoined classrooms. Each student will have their own workspace and individual tool kit to use during the session to minimise resource sharing.
Session 1 – Masterclass Demonstration followed by students planning their own designs and the materials they will require for the term. Those new to silversmithing will receive tuition covering the basic techniques, design support or projects to create as well as having the opportunity to incorporate the more advanced ' masterclass' technique.
Session 2-6 Students work on their ‘masterclass technique’ jewellery designs or continue with their own self-directed projects with tutor support.
Each term will cover a different 'masterclass' technique such as etching, stone setting or casting and techniques covered will be informed by student interest.
Tuition is based on students interests but I always aim to lay down a good grounding in the fundamentals while also offering more advanced techniques on demand. A huge range of in-class and online resources are provided to complement your tuition. These are especially useful for anyone wishing to carry on their silversmithing skills at home or wishing to set up or develop their own jewellery business.
The course fee includes personalised tuition, use of tools, basic materials and consumables. A selection of silver and gemstones can be purchased from the tutor and a suppliers list will be provided for any students who wish to buy their own tools or materials.
